We prepared as best we could for the vampires, should they seek us out or should we run across them again. They city, heedless of our warnings, have nothing to worry about it seems and the plague doctors have all in hand.
The bank of Abadar is less convinced and offered to pay us to investigate some of the many cures popping up for the blood veil. This one at a well know, and somewhat nefarious, perfumery. We looked into the matter, purchased some of the cure, as well as some other products they had recently in, and spoke to the proprietor. Karne and Aurbon poked around but come up with nothing. While Aurbon tailed a supposed “cured man” we tested the remedies in Trail’s End – sadly we could only find one subject willing to test the cure, the rest preferred a sure death. This lead to two truths: the man who was cured was a shill, and the cure did not work.
We reported to the guards but went in to make the apprehension ahead of them to ensure these con-men (and women) did not escape. Guided by Aurbon’s ghost like visage we were able to come upon them completely unaware and furthermore directly in the act of bottling up river water, sweetened with lavender. No blood was draw and all were taken into custody.
As a side note I did allow Vendra to place all her valuables (coin and jewelry) in her store safe, minus a refund for our purchase. Hopefully she will be able to use the funds for reparations rather than having some footpad take it all in her absents. Additionally we returned to Trail’s End and saw that our willing subject received a legitimate cure for his trouble.
